North Male Breaks

North Male’ Atoll has the biggest concentration of resorts and the most accessible, best-known, and most popular breaks in the Maldives. Most of the surf charters access these breaks.

Chickens – Surf Cokes Package
Villingilimathi Huraa (Kuda Villingili), uninhabited island. Eastern reef of North Male Atoll.
The left hander is probably the fastest wave in the North Male Atoll. This wave holds swell size from 3ft to well over 10ft and provides rides up to 500m long. Chickens is located across the channel from Cokes so it can be reached by staying in one our Surf Cokes Packages.

Cokes (Colas) Surf Cokes Package
Thulusdhoo, Atoll Capital. 25 minutes north of Lohifushi.
The right-hander breaks 3-10ft and is fairly protected from the southerly winds that may affect other breaks such as “Lohis”. This wave has been well photographed and is the hollowest in the North Male atoll. This will test your tube-riding ability.

Lohis
Lohifushi Island Resort, opposite Kani Resort.
A long wackable left-hander that breaks off Lohifushi Resort – very consistent wave and has hosted the WQS O’neil ‘Deep Blue Open’ for the past 3 years.

Ninjas
Kanifinolhu Resort.
Slow right-hander, good for beginners and long-boarders.
With the right conditions this a great wave but a little inconsistent.

Pastas
Tari Village Resort (Kanu Huraa).
Perfect long left, which picks up more swell and is more consistent then any other break.
Best months February, March and April.

Sultans – Surf Male Breaks Package
Thamburudhoo right (uninhabited island).
An easy right-hand take off which leads you to an intense wrapping section at the end. Breaks 3-8ft. Please note: this wave is the most protected from the southerly winds in the North Male atoll and collect the most swell – so go there if it is small.

Honkeys
Thamburudhoo left (uninhabited island), is located near North of Himmafushi Island .
It is a fast wrapping left at 4-6ft and needs the right swell direction. Worth checking if “Sultans” is crowded.

Jails
a classic right-hander that was previously off limits. A long down the line right-hander with 3 distinct sections including a mid barrel section. Rides of up to 300m can be had when it’s lining up.

Paradise Point
Situated on the suthern end of Paradise Island Resort.
A left hand wave that is best on a small to medium swell.
Not afternoon surfed as it is exclusive to Paradise Island Resort customers. On its day this wave can be super fun.

Half Moon
Situated minutes away from Paradise Island Resort.
Short right hander that is rarly surfed. Yet on its day can offer uncrowded perfection. Half Moon also is protected from big swells and winds from the south.

Full Moon
Full Moon Beach Resort, Furana Fushi Island.
Long, right-hander, offshore in winds S to W. A good spot for long boarders, beginners although it can offer great waves for advanced surfers. Often smaller and protected from bigger swells. Very rarely crowded.
Outside section is very mellow, with the inside ball offering intense tube rides.

Male Point
Male, the capital. Easter reef of Male.
A couple of shifting peaks, popular with locals, riding surfboards and boogie boards. The reef picks up plenty of swell. Best in west winds. Accessible from the shore.
